Entre os roteiros turísticos do Rio de Janeiro merece destaque e atenção o grande número de museus,

 abrangendo todas as áreas do conhecimento humano.

 

 Vários, dentre os museus que a seguir enumeramos, possuem acervos de importância internacional.  

Among the tourist excursions available in Rio de Janeiro, the great number of museums deserve special attention.

 They cover nearly all the areas of human knowledge.

 

 Some of the following have collections of international importance.

MUSEUS DE ARTE

 ART MUSEUMS

 

MUSEU DO AÇUDE FUNDAÇÃO RAIMUNDO OTTONI DE CASTRO MAYA

 

Antiga residência da família Castro Maya, expõe um acervo de telas a óleo de Muzzi,

 Velasco e Taunay, retratando o Brasil dos séculos XVII a XX, além de peças de mobiliário, tapeçaria,

 vidraçarias, pratarias, azulejos etc. (Estr. do Açude, 764 - Alto da Boa Vista)  

 

This is the former residence of the Castro Maya family, and exhibits a collection of the oils of Muzzi,

 Velasco, and Taunay that show the Brazil of the 17th to 20th Centuries, as well as funiture, carpets,

 glassware, silver, and tiles. (Estrada do Açude 764 — Alto da Boa Vista)

 

 

MUSEU CHÁCARA DO CÉU

 

Numa área de 25.000 m2 no alto do morro do Curvelo,

 de onde se tem uma bela vista panorâmica da Baía de Guanabara,

 estão reunidas cerca de 1.500 peças.

 

 A pinacoteca reúne, aproximadamente, 360 obras entre pinturas,

 desenhos e gravuras brasileiras e estrangeiras, pertencentes à Fundação Raimundo Ottoni de Castro Maya.

 

Há também estatuetas, trabalhos em cerâmica e metal, prataria, móveis e luminárias.

 this museum brings together about 1,500 works.

 as well as statuettes and ceramic and metal works, silver, furniture. and lamps.

MUSEU DA IMAGEM E DO SOM - 

MUSEUM OF SOUND AND IMAGES

 

O acervo reúne mais de 100 mil fotografias da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, no início do século até 1940,

 além de variada coleção de discos, livros e depoimentos gravados e também

 uma enorme documentação sobre a música brasileira, popular e erudita.

The collection brings together more than 100,000 photographs of the city from the beginning

 of the century to 1940 as well as a varied collection of records, books,

 and recorded memoirs and an enormous collection of documentation about Brazilian music,

MUSEU NACIONAL DE BELAS ARTES - National Fine Arts Museum

 

O acervo reúne atualmente 10.150 peças, desde obras brasileiras de segunda metade

 do século XVII aos dias atuais; obras de arte estrangeiras, inclusive uma grande coleção africana;

 e coleções de arte brasileira, instaladas num prédio construído, em estilo renascentista francês, em 1908.

The collection has presently 10,150 works, from Brazilian pieces from the late 17th Century

until the present to foreign works including a large African collection and other collections of Brazilian art,

 all installed in a French Renaissarce style building dating from 1908.

MUSEU VILLA-LOBOS

 

O acervo guarda vários objetos pessoais do compositor Heitor Villa-Lobos,

 além de originais de algumas de suas partituras, obras publicadas no Brasil e no exterior

 a seu respeito e fitas magnéticas gravadas.

This collection holds various personal items of the composer Heitor Villa-Lobos as well as original

 of some of his works, published material (büth foreign and Brazilian) about him and recorded tapes.

MUSEUS DE ASTRONOMIA E CIÊNCIAS AFINS

(OBSERVATÓRIO NACIONAL).

National Observatory and Astronomy and Allied Sciences Museum

 

Fazem parte do acervo permanente instrumentos históricos relacionados ao estudo da astronomia,

 instalados em uma área de 40.000 m2, onde pode-se observar o céu através de telescópios instalados

 nas cúpulas do Observatório.

 

 O museu possui uma biblioteca especializada e sedia exposições temporárias,

além de exibições de filmes científicos e audio-visuais.
